Not so well-known is that a degree from an Indiana independent college or university offers all these benefits and more, reflected in higher graduation rates, shorter time to degree completion, and greater alumni satisfaction. Students at Indiana’s independent campuses are more than twice as likely to graduate with their bachelor’s degrees in four years as students at Indiana’s public institutions. Why It’s “The Smart Gift” for Donors: The Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) provides you the opportunity to contribute to 31 different colleges and universities (or a smaller number of your choice) by writing just one check, as well as to design your gift in whatever way you think best. Also, because ICI deducts no fees from contributions and does not charge donors any administrative costs, you can know that 100 percent of your donation directly benefits students and their colleges or universities. ICI’s Mission: A key element of ICI’s mission of advancing the state’s 31 independent institutions of higher education has always been a commitment to fundraising, in order to make the benefits of an independent college education a possibility for every student regardless of economic background. Although many individuals, corporations, endowments, and foundations give directly to individual independent campuses, many have also chosen over the years to give through ICI, which has raised more than $100 million since its founding as the Associated Colleges of Indiana in 1948.
