2008-2009 Indiana College Guidebook - (Page Cover2) Fall 2008 Dear Future College Student: Choosing a college or university is all about the options you have before you. “Getting it right” — making the right choice — is really about picking the campus that best meets your current needs and future aspirations. So, maximize your options by applying to a range of colleges and universities and then select the one that gives you the best-anticipated intellectual, social, and capital returns on your investment of time, energy, and money. Don’t forget, though, that your college experience is much more than preparation for a particular job or career. Your experience at college or university will impact your entire future — who you are and what you will be for the rest of your life. Since many people even meet their spouses and/or lifetime friends during their college years, I hope that you will also carefully evaluate the kinds of people that your chosen collegiate environment will place in your midst. Above all else, think about the kind of person you want to be when you finish college. You’ll be most satisfied if you select the campus that will enable you to realize your own vision of who and what you want to become in life. Then you will have found your best match possible — for your college and your future. Best wishes for your search, Hans C. Giesecke, Ph.D. President and CEO Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc.
