Jefferson City Visitor Guide - (Page 10) Jefferson city ATTRACTIONS Missouri State Museum 201 West Capitol Avenue, State Capitol Building (573) 751-2854 | www.mocapitoltours.com The Missouri State Museum is located on the first floor of the Missouri State Capitol Building and is managed by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. The museum continues to showcase Missouri's diverse history and resources. The museum houses both temporary and long-term exhibits, such as exhibits for the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. One of the highlights of the museum’s collections is a significant and rare group of over 125 Civil War battle flags. Many of the flags belonged to, or were captured by, Missouri units on both sides of the war. At least one flag is on display at all times in the museum. Missouri was one of the most divided states during the Civil War and the Missouri State Museum exhibits tell this story. The Missouri State Museum is open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Free admission. The only days that the State Museum is closed are the 4 major holidays (New Years Day, Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.) The Missouri Supreme Court Building has beautiful architecture including glass floors in the library and a staircase made entirely of Missouri marble. 10 http://www.mocapitoltours.com
