The Tour of Missouri, slated as the largest professional sporting event ever hosted in Missouri, is patterned after the famous Tour de France of point-to-point, or stage racing. The Tour has joined the elite ranks of top international domestic cycling of the Tour of California and Tour de Georgia. The race is much more than a cycling race, however, and brings the pageantry of the race along with a rolling festival to each host start and finish city during the week long event. It includes authentic homemade German food, music and dancing. A parade, car show, craft vendors and demonstrating artisans offer a day full of family activities. Some of the highlights include the Dachshund Derby and the Children's Train. A beer garden with live music serves as entertainment for the adults. Trickor-treating at the Governor's Mansion and variety of other events take place from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and are all free and open to the public. Come in your Halloween costume or your Saturday clothes, but come join in the day's fun! Harvestfest is on High Street from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well.
