The fair features a gigantic midway with many rides and shows. Exhibits at the fair represent the best in Missouri crops, beef, sheep, swine, and dairy production. Traditional homemaking skills such as canning, baking and quilting from around the state are also displayed. Parish Picnics On any Sunday throughout June, July and August some community near Jefferson City is celebrating with a parish picnic. In Westphalia, St. Martin’s, Wardsville, Rhineland, Frankenstein, Linn, Mary’s Home, Taos and St. Thomas the parish picnic, a German custom of the early settlers, lives on.
