Talk to your doctor for any additional recommendations. There are no required immunizations for travel to Japan, Malaysia, Singapore or Bali; however, you should consult your doctor as certain immunizations may be recommended. THAILAND Passports & Visas A valid passport is required to travel to Thailand. U.S. passport holders entering Thailand for less than 30 days do not need an entry visa. VIETNAM / CAMBODIA Passports & Visas A valid passport with at least six months validity and a visa are required to travel to Vietnam or Cambodia. Visitors must obtain a visa prior to arrival in Vietnam; Cambodian 30-day visas can be obtained upon arrival at the airport (passport photo needed). Visa fees apply. Currency The Thai unit of currency is the Thai Baht (1USD = 33THB) Tipping Thais do not depend on tips or gratuities for their income and tips are not expected for normal service, even in restaurants and pubs. However, tipping is appreciated at your discretion. Currency The Vietnamese unit of currency is the Vietnam Dong (1USD = 16,085VND). The Cambodian unit of currency is the Cambodian Riel (1USD = 4,100KHR). U.S. Dollars and Thai Baht are widely accepted and considered the best choice while traveling in Cambodia. It is a good idea to carry a small amount of Riel as well. Electricity The electricity current in most regions is 220-240 volts; AC 50Hz. The electricity current in Japan is 100 volts; AC 50Hz. Most hotels will have a 110 volt outlet for shavers and hairdryers. Climate Thailand is a tropical environment, high in temperature and humidity. Baggage Restrictions On certain flights within Asia you may be limited to one piece of checked luggage per person. S I N G A P O R E / M A L AY S I A Passports & Visas A valid passport with at least six months validity is required of all people wishing to travel to Singapore or Malaysia. No visa is required for entry for up to 90 days. Tipping Vietnamese and Cambodians do not depend on tips or gratuities for their income and tips are not expected for normal service, even in restaurants and pubs. However, tipping is appreciated at your discretion. Credit Cards and Travelers’ Checks Exchange facilities can be found at all international airports, and foreign currency or travelers’ checks can be exchanged at banks and large hotels. In Japan and Bali, most ATMs will not accept international credit cards. All major credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, banks and most stores. In Vietnam and Cambodia, credit cards are not widely accepted. Currency The Singaporean unit of currency is the Singapore Dollar (1USD = 1.5SGD) The Malaysian unit of currency is the Malaysian Ringgit (1USD = 3.4MYR) Climate Vietnam and Cambodia are tropical environments, high in temperature and humidity. BALI (INDONESIA) Passports & Visas A valid passport with at least three months validity is required to travel to Indonesia. U.S. citizens can apply for a 30-day visitors visa on arrival. Visa fee applies. Tipping CHINA / HONG KONG Passports & Visas A valid passport with at least six months validity and a visa are required to travel to China. Visitors must obtain a visa prior to arrival. Refer to your nearest Chinese Embassy or consulate for visa information. No visa is required for entry to Hong Kong or Macau for up to 90 days. Singaporeans and Malaysians do not depend on tips or gratuities for their income and tips are not expected for normal service, even in restaurants and pubs. However, tipping is appreciated at your discretion. Some hotels and restaurants automatically include 10%-15% service charge to bills. Currency The Indonesian unit of currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (1USD = 8,770IDR) Tipping Major hotels usually add a 10% service charge to bills; where it is not included, tipping 10% -15% is satisfactory. Airport porters and rental car drivers expect a tip; tipping taxi drivers is at your discretion. Climate Tropical climate with warm days and high humidity, with a rainy season between November and February. Currency The Chinese unit of currency is the Chinese Yuan (1USD = 7.6CNY) The Hong Kong unit of currency is the Hong Kong Dollar (1USD = 7.8HKD) The HKD is the preferred unit of currency for Macau. Climate Bali is warm and tropical year round, With a wet season between October – March and dry season from April – September. Currency The Japanese unit of currency is the Japanese Yen (1USD = 121JPY) INDIA Passports & Visas A valid passport with at least six months validity and a visa are required to travel to India. Visitors must obtain a visa prior to arrival. Tipping There is very little tipping in Japan, as service charges are usually included. Currency The Indian unit of currency is the Indian Rupee (1USD = 40INR) Climate The climate for this region varies greatly depending on your location. The northern parts of China have hot wet summers and below freezing temperatures in winter. The southern regions including Hong Kong are not as extreme, with more temperate year-round conditions. Climate Japan has four distinct seasons; summer, autumn, winter and spring. Summers are warm and humid while winters can be very cool. Tipping In mid-range and upper-end hotels or restaurants a service charge of around 10% is often added to bills, so tipping is optional. In smaller places, where a service charge has not been added to the bill, a tip is appreciated but at your discretion.
