Nora Lighting
Maya Romanoff, founder and chief creative ofﬁcer of
the Maya Romanoff Corp., passed away peacefully
on January 15, in his home in Chicago. Born Richard
Romanoff in 1941, he took the simple premise of dyeing
fabric and created dyed leather and silk that can be
seen in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian
Cooper Hewitt Design Museum and the Art Institute of
Chicago. He eventually moved onto hand-dyed fabrics and wall coverings for interiors and incorporated materials like glass
beads, seashells, gold leaf and stitching into surfacing materials. Romanoff
was most proud of his studio and factory in Skokie, Ill., where artisans
handcraft wall coverings. His wife, Joyce Romanoff, became president of
Maya Romanoff in 2002, and her children and his niece assumed leadership roles in the company. Photo credit: George Lambros

Nora Lighting recently celebrated its 25th year in business at an
industry reception in its new 2,800-sq.-ft. showroom at the Dallas International Lighting Market. The company calls the new showroom
a working lab that demonstrates lighting effects with layers of light
in vignette settings, including a media room, loft, café, bathroom,
kitchen and a retail/merchandising area. The showroom's lab displays variations in lighting levels, including Kelvin temperatures,
CRI, lumen output and various wattages, as well as the difference
between LED and incandescent lamps. New products on display
at the Dallas showroom include the Sapphire Series of high-lumen
downlights, the Revo motorized track head and the LED Flex Beam
track head with ﬂoor and spotlighting.

Maytag has introduced its new
"Maytag Man," the face of the
brand that has evolved into his
new role as the appliance - be it
a dishwasher (shown), refrigerator, oven, washer or dryer. The
company sees this character as
the human embodiment of its
core values of reliability, durability and power. The Maytag Man performs
each appliance's task and is a creative interpretation of the company's
motto: What's Inside Matters. This is part of Maytag's multi-million-dollar
campaign to support current and new product launches for 2014 and
will be featured in four national TV ads that are also available on YouTube
and on Maytag's website.

*A state-of-the-art 5,500-sq.-ft. Miele showroom will open at LuxeHome at
Canyon Creek Cabinet Company has hired Christian
Stjern as its new safety manager. Stjern will be responsible for communicating, implementing and monitoring the company's safety policies and procedures to
prevent accidents and for creating protection policies
for employees. He will also conduct monthly safety
committee meetings to review the safety metrics and
plan for ongoing improvement. Prior to Canyon Creek,
Stjern held three different safety-related positions for construction, pulp and
paper and petrochemical companies. Three years ago, he started a nonproﬁt animal rehabilitation and rescue business that is still going strong.
LuxeHome has announced that Scavolini
Chicago has recently opened a showroom on
the ﬁrst ﬂoor of Chicago's Merchandise Mart.
The custom-designed, 3,000-sq.-ft. space will
join more than 30 premier boutiques that
make up LuxeHome and will feature ﬁve kitchen and four bathroom vignettes with the latest
designs from Italy. In 2013, Scavolini launched
the bathroom and living room product line for homeowners to maintain
style and function throughout their homes.

Chicago's Merchandise Mart this spring. The showroom will feature a fully
functioning kitchen and live appliances that are designed to engage and
inspire customers while viewing the company's suite of home appliances,
including a full culinary line, dishwashers, laundry care and vacuum cleaners.The appliances will be arranged in vignettes, and the live kitchen will be
used for cooking classes, special events and training sessions.
Ware Malcomb, an international design ﬁrm based in
Irvine, Calif., has promoted Ilyes Nouizi to director of
resource services. Nouizi joined the company in 2003
as part of the ﬁrm's in-house production resource
team, Studio A. He became an integral part of the studio's leadership and has been involved in many of
Ware Malcomb's large complex projects.

*Masco Corporation has announced that Keith J. Allman has succeeded Timothy Wadhams - who is retiring after a 37-year career with
the company - as president and CEO and will join the company's
Board of Directors. Allman, who currently serves as a Masco group president, joined the company in 1998 as vice president of manufacturing
for cabinetmaker Merillat Industries. In 2007, he became president of
Delta Faucet Company. In 2011, he was promoted to group president
