KITCHEN AND BATH PRODUCTS WE COVET

hat product for your kitchen or bath would you buy if
you had the means? This is our masthead (p. 4) question in this issue, and I know you will agree with many
of our staff 's choices.
Perhaps a better question for you, our readers,
is what kitchen or bath product would you specify
for a client's project if they had the means - or if
you were savvy enough to be able to include it in a
limited space or budget? So many times I hear about a homeowner who
wants to include all the bells and whistles, and the design professional
has to step in and decide where to save and where to splurge. That's one
of the most important reasons why you were hired in the first place.
I didn't provide an answer to the question on the actual masthead
page, but I do have several. Let me break it down in a few categories:
"Bath Accessories. I truly want something that can help me balance and a
place where I can put my foot/feet while I am shaving my legs. The soap
dish in the wall just isn't cutting it anymore.
"Cooking Appliances. I would love to have a range and oven equipped with
the technology to help make the whole process easier in terms of knowing
exactly what temperature and cook time are required for certain foods. I
would make more home-cooked meals if I had some assistance.
"Bath Flooring. Anything with a heating option would be great for those
moments when I am just getting out of the shower.

"Countertops. I appreciate the aesthetics of soapstone and marble, but maintenance would be an
issue in a busy household. I learned recently of
certain treatments that can be applied to each
to better seal those materials, but a quartz or
granite look-alike would be just as nice.
"Dishwashers. I want something extremely quiet
that requires very little rinsing ahead of time -
one of those built-in lights would be cool, too.
"Cabinets. I am all for neutral, as long as there are
bolder colors offsetting it.
"Kitchen Faucets. I am a little OCD, so hands-free
is the way to go for me. All of those paper towels
I use to dry my hands would thank me.
"Shower Fixtures. I wonder if there is a showerhead available that conserves water AND
makes sure you are completely covered no matter where you are standing.
And last but not least, I totally agree with
our newsletter editor on a tricked-out wine
refrigerator. I would invite people over just to
show it off.
We hope this Buyer's Guide edition will
help you find the products your clients are in
the market for - and even some of which you
both may never have heard. There's always
something new on the horizon, and there are
always the tried and true favorites.
