Design duo boosts the guest editor
opportunity to the next level

EDITOR ISSUE, we chose not one but two industry talents - both with more than 25 years of
experience as kitchen and bath designers - to
help guide the editorial planning. Representing
the East Coast, Rebecca Reynolds is the owner
of New Canaan Kitchens in Fairfield County,
Conn.; and Lori Gilder is the owner of West
Coast-based Lori Gilder Interior Makeovers in
Beverly Hills, Calif.

The two designers connected on Twitter in 2010. Their relationship was
established shortly thereafter when they were asked to do an on-stage cooking challenge hosted by Capital Cooking at a Dwell on Design show - and
won. Since then, the two have collaborated with various brands, were selected
to participate on a DXV Designer Panel and were named the 2016 Kitchen
Designers of the Year by Viking. Currently they are working on the Kitchen
Design Network, an online resource that unites brands, consumers and
designers and highlights the available talent in our industry.
KBB sat down with Reynolds and Gilder to discuss tips for success, overcoming challenges, lessons learned, client relationships, favorite parts of the
job and the importance of constant learning and involvement in social media.
We know you will come away with a wealth of information and knowledge
reading about these designers' experiences.
TIPS FOR A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS
Reynolds started her kitchen and bath studio in 2002 and credits her accomplishments to organization and planning.
"Organization is key; there are so many moving parts so planning ahead
is important," she explained. "Financial planning is important as well; it's
much like real estate - when times are good, put money away for when times
