"The second installation was getting the large
back wall slab in place," said Brunet. "The piece
needed to get over the lower shower curb but under the bulkhead to place it, and the weight of the
slabs was definitely a factor."
For the third fitting on both end walls, they
needed to install the colored feature strip and the
wall with the custom niche, which were fabricated
as one seamless piece. Finally, the last quartz installation was for the low shower curb and casings.
"Everyone on site that day was crossing fingers,
hoping that all the measurements were right so
that the panels would just slide in, and they did,"
said Brunet.
Features like a wall drain covered in quartz
add to the high-class look. Digital interface electronics inside the shower walls support a hightech, thermostatic valve that allows the clients
to personalize the showering experience. It has
a warm-up mode, customized temperature and
spray output and a countdown timer to easily
manage water usage.

REQUEST #3: MORE STORAGE

While reconfiguring the bathroom to accommodate the larger shower, Brunet took out part
of the master closet. With this move, she created
a new wall for potential storage. The wall now is
lined floor to ceiling with cabinetry and topped
with frosted-glass cabinets.

"There was an obstruction in the walk-in closet that proved to be both an
issue and an asset when designing this storage cabinetry," said the designer.
"The base cabinets had to be shallower than the upper cabinets to accommodate the obstruction, but I did manage to fit in a blind corner cabinet
accessory for easy access and better organization."
The clients also hoped for more countertop space and a separate makeup area. While there was room for double sinks, they opted for a single
sink, which fulfilled their own request for more countertop space. This
long vanity is emphasized with repeated drawers and long pulls, and the
waterfall quartz countertop coordinates with the porcelain floor tiles that
resemble marble.
FINAL CHALLENGES

With the modern, streamlined look of the bath, Brunet was challenged
to find places for some of the essentials, including the access panel for the
bathroom's plumbing and digital components.
"These had to have a location that met noise and warranty requirements,"
said the designer."I was thankfully able to place the access panel in the master
bedroom to the right of and underneath the desk."
Since the bathroom itself is relatively small, the door to it was also a problem.The only solution to avoid colliding with people or cabinet doors was to
include a pocket door. Treated with mirrored panels, the pocket door faces
into the bathroom and continues the open, hotel look of the space.
"I enjoyed the whole creative part of the design process itself,"said Brunet,
"including being able to check off everything on the client's wish list and
finding creative ways of exceeding expectations and incorporating new or
unusual materials and products."

