The energy savings roughly equates to the annual power requirements of 700 homes.” He added that by consolidating distribution and reducing multiple stops by Kraft and customer trucks, an estimated 180,000 gallons of fuel may be saved, and carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by approximately 4 million pounds, annually. “This facility incorporates all of the best practices that we learned in 48 years of underground development,” says Louis Griesemer, president and CEO of Springfield Underground Inc. “The energy efficiency, security and other amenities of the underground make this a state-of-the-art distribution facility. Wine Distributor Implements JDA Software Solutions Republic National Distributing Co., reportedly the secondlargest wholesaler and distributor of premium wine and distilled alcoholic beverages in the U.S., will replace its category management systems with several solutions from JDA Software. The distributor expects to optimize opportunities with best-practice space management processes, shared databases and common reporting practices across its 21 states. The solutions it is implementing include Space Planning, Space Automation and Efficient Item Assortment. “This software will enable us to more effectively calculate and execute category plans, achieving demand-based precision merchandising for maximized profitability and sales per square foot,” says Dirk van Renesse, corporate director of category management for the distributor.
