MFA’s deployment will first focus on upgrading its core financial package, human resource management and its wholesale Nordstrom Uses Iasta Sourcing, SRM Solution Iasta says that retailing giant Nordstrom Inc. has signed a multi-year agreement to utilize Iasta’s SmartSource solution. Iasta says the platform enables users to reduce sourcing cycle times, improve processes and capture cost savings through robust features and functionality such as event management, “eRFx creation” and template libraries, advanced reverse auctions and postbid optimization analysis. Iasta says that Nordstrom found the combination of these tools, as well as the developer’s ability to support a multiple-location retail organization with rapid response times, integral to its decision. Schneider Logistics Handles Freight Audit for Cummins Cummins, reportedly the world’s largest independent diesel engine producer, has chosen Schneider Logistics Europe to take care of its freight audit and payment service needs for its U.K. manufacturing plants at Darlington, Daventry and Ramsgate. Under the contract Schneider will capture data from carrier invoices, conduct rate, duplication and execution audits of all freight invoices, resolve disputes with carriers, interface with Cummins’s accounts payable system and pay its carriers. “Our vendor selection team found Schneider’s approach particularly strong in several key areas such as data capture and reporting, data validity checking and rate and tariff checking,” says Claire Miller, corporate indirect purchasing manager at Cummins. “Schneider’s experience in freight audit and payment was also evident in its structured and robust implementation plan.” Schneider Logistics has created two European competence centers, one in Olomouc, Czech Republic, the other at its headquarters, in Venlo, The Netherlands. Large Foodservice Distributor Employs Voxware Voxware reports that Performance Food Group (PFG), said to be the third-largest foodservice distribution company in the United States, has rolled out voice in five of its broadline distribution centers. The company plans to expand voice with an aggressive schedule that assumes a new broadline site will be rolled out every 3 to 5 weeks. Once the implementations are complete in 2009, PFG will have more than 600 workers across 18 broadline distribution centers nationwide on the system. Currently PFG is using voice in its picking applications. The integration of pick slot movement data triggers the warehouse management system to generate immediate replenishment for pick slots low on inventory.
