RedPrairie Announces New Contract with Retailer Tesco; Enhances WMS Tesco, one of the world’s leading retailers, plans to implement RedPrairie’s Workforce Management application at its stores. “We selected RedPrairie because they provide the best scheduling solution that can operate across Tesco’s different formats,” says Dave Briggs, program manager for Tesco. “By helping ensure that we always have people on hand to assist shoppers, it supports our constant effort to improve customer experience. Ultimately, it will improve our business by increasing store productivity, and supporting revenue growth.” In a separate development, RedPrairie says it has integrated the asset management capabilities of its stand-alone Mobile Resource Management product into its warehouse management system. The integration is one of several enhancements within the new release of RedPrairie’s Supply Chain Execution suite, designed to unify supply chain processes. Tom Kozenski, RedPrairie vice president, product strategy, says: “Integrated visibility and control over the movement of inventory and assets across today’s complex global supply networks can be slow, costly, and very challenging. In the past, inventory and the assets used to ship them were tracked in two separate systems, which made closed-loop tracking of assets very difficult. With the new release, customers can manage this combined movement through a single process, driving greater efficiency, improved visibility and stronger control over supply chain operations.” The system supports the use of RFID, 2-D barcodes and other AIDC technologies to track inventory and assets within the distribution center, as well as outside of it, such as in trailer yards, in-transit, at customer sites, or even within a retailer’s store network. Both serialized and non-serialized assets can be tracked at each location. Axxom Forms Strategic Partnership with Australian Supply Chain Consultants Australian supply chain consulting company GRA Pty Ltd is to begin using, as well as distributing, ORion-PIR software from German technology provider Axxom Software AG. The initial focus of the partnership is on ORion-PIR Value Network Optimization. This application is an integrated approach to analyzing, designing and optimizing strategic network scenarios. Axxom says the application covers every relationship within the supply chain, from customer locations, production plants and distribution centers to suppliers, manufacturers and distributors.
