CPG Vision features the AWhere OneTouch Wizard that directly imports and maps data from Wal-Mart’s Retail Link online POS application. AWhere says category managers can immediately view product velocity and inventory across all 3,800 Wal-Mart and 600 Sam’s Club stores, indexed to national and market levels. “The ability to see each Wal-Mart store indexed within IRI or Nielsen markets allows a Wal-Mart category management team to isolate over- and under-performing stores with causal information. CPG Vision brings a 3800-line spreadsheet to life,” says Rick Pensa, CEO of Insight Information Services, an industry consultant and beta user of the AWhere solution. CPG Vision provides 2008 demographic data for the entire U.S. pre-aggregated by state, county, zip code, Wal-Mart Store Trade Area, Nielsen and IRI Markets. The solution is reportedly unique in allowing category managers to merge IRI, Nielsen, Spectra or SPINS market data to view in geographic context with POS sales data at store and market levels. It also provides daily 10-day weather forecasts assigned to each Wal-Mart store, allowing users to simultaneously view weather patterns and inventory to evaluate weather impact. The decision was reportedly based on the successful implementation of a Lead Time system pilot supporting one segment of the O-I business since early 2007. “Lead Time Technology has not only implemented decision support technology to enable our people to improve business results, but they have also enabled the change management process to win support across the whole organization,” says James Nordmeyer, O-I North American vice president and director of logistics and service. Given the successful results from the pilot implementation, O-I has selected Lead Time Technology to expand the implementation of its tools and Lean Six Sigma process improvement services to the remaining O-I North American segments.
