Moody says. "That mentality is different from anything I've seen and I've
been in the food industry for 25 years."

The City of Industry, Calif-based
company was founded in 2006 on the
principle that healthy food made with
quality fresh ingredients does not
have to be expensive, and that making smart eating decisions doesn't
come at a sacrifice for taste. WaBa
Grills use raw vegetables and proteins, and cook without the use of fryers or heat lamps. "There's a reason
fresh matters - it tastes better - and
those quality choices are important,"
Moody says. "Our food tastes great,
the quality is high and customers can

easily manage what they choose to
eat to cater to whatever it is they need
to do for their health."
After the first couple of stores in
the greater Los Angeles area took
off, WaBa Grill was franchised to entrepreneurs looking to promote the
company's mission to "Eat Smart, Be
Healthy!" Today, about 10 percent of
WaBa Grill's 144 locations in California and Arizona are corporate-owned
while the majority are franchised.
The company is always looking to
expand. "We aren't looking to jam
stores anywhere; we are much more
organic than that," Moody explains.
"We want to be sure we don't saturate the local market and want franchisees to look outside of the box and
their comfort zones. Corporate does
the same when it takes a chance on a
new market with the goal of creating a
path for new and existing franchisees.
If we have a base store in a new market, they can jump off from that."

The Right Fit
WaBa Grill Franchise Corp. franchisees are not required to have previous
experience in the restaurant industry.
