AdvantaClean offers franchisees a streamlined

AdvantaClean CEO Jeff Dudan
understands a fundamental truth
about franchising: People looking to
own their own businesses are people who want to be in charge of their
own destiny. "On the heels of the last
recession, people sought opportunities with more control over what happened to them," Dudan says. "They
wanted to be compensated for their
efforts, and at the same time build
something for the future."
According to Dudan, people who
seek out franchising opportunities
figure if they're going to be working
hard, they should be building the equity as they go. For many it's a hedge

build a financial future for themselves
while avoiding the corporate world.
AdvantaClean was founded in 1994
as a traditional restoration contracting business by Dudan, his college
business partner, and two others after
work slowed from the rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Andrew in south
Florida. One year later, they had two
offices in two states. As they continued to build the brand, Dudan - who
became sole owner of the company
in 2004 - began offering franchises
to the general public in 2009 when
things began to take off. Naturally, the
growth didn't happen without some

major restructuring of the company's
offerings and thinking.
After years of experience, and
identifying the most profitable services, Dudan knew they had created
a low-overhead business model that
could generate healthy profits for
franchisees. "Coming from the industry, we were able to look at offerings
across the industry and put together services that were both complementary and high margin," Dudan
explains. The company now holds a
unique marketshare thanks to its ability to home in on a mix of services to
maximize sales and profit.
AdvantaClean's core business model focuses on solving Light Environmental Serviceā„¢ issues that occur in
homes and buildings in both residential and commercial marketplaces.
Most of the work involves responding
to issues caused by water, including
mold removal, emergency water damage response, air duct and coil cleaning, and providing solutions to moisture issues in crawlspaces, basements
and attics.
The key is offering services employees can quickly learn to do, and that
also complement each other in a way
that enables franchisees to use the
same employees and equipment to
address many of their services, driving up their profit. "There were services we chose not to offer because we
wanted to put together the offerings
in a way we could support really well,"
Dudan notes. "Now, we have multiple
revenue streams that fit together very
nicely to keep houses clean, healthy,
safe and energy-efficient."
