Dedication to seniors and
homecare has been a monumental
part of both Chad Fotheringham
and Tafa Jefferson's lives, and is the
foundation for Amada Senior Care.
Jefferson's mother was a nurse, so he
experienced homecare firsthand with
his mother's private clients, while Fotheringham would spend quality time
talking with an elderly woman on his
paper route as a kid. "There's nothing like sitting with seniors in their
homes and finding out about them;
it's very rewarding," says Jefferson,
CEO of Amada Senior Care.
The two met in college while studying business and playing football at the
University of the Pacific in Stockton,
Calif., neither one initially knowing
the other's history with senior caregiving. After Jefferson started his own
homecare company in 1997, he invited
Fotheringham to join his second startup, and they founded Amada Senior
Care in 2007. "We've both been deeply impacted by seniors when we were
younger and it's not just a passion for
us, it's our life," says Fotheringham,
president of Amada Senior Care.
"We put our talents together and
started something that is great for
our community has meaning," Jefferson adds.
