so the property has one point of
contact for all their riser needs,"
The advantage of contracting
with a riser management company
is that there is a single company
to oversee and document all the
activity for a building's communications infrastructure, reducing the
likelihood of an outage and ensuring the technology meets tenant
needs. "When we're working for
the property manager, we're going
to make sure that whatever gets
installed in the building is code
compliant, up to standards and
provides an advantage for the
property," Brogan explains.
IMG Technologies installs
all cabling from the building's
vertical riser to its tenant spaces.
Once the connection is brought
to a suite, the tenant can use their
own technicians or hire IMG
Technologies to complete the setup. "We're managing the shared
infrastructure within a building,"

As new technology is incorporated into buildings, IMG Technologies helps buildings ensure
that there is space available.
"When we come into a new building, we often see new cabling on
top of old, and riser cores that are
full," says Lisa Shoulder, IMG's
COO. "We provide buildings with
plans to restore their risers and
bring them back up to code."
PUTTING DATA TO USE
IMG Technologies manages risers
in commercial properties totaling 180 million square feet. To
handle all those buildings, teams
of technicians work out of hubs
in the company's major markets.
Unlike other companies, clients do
not communicate with technicians
directly to set up service, which
can lead to delayed response times
while technicians complete other
jobs. Instead, all calls go through
IMG Technologies' support center
in Chicago, which is fully staffed
from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT each
weekday to cover business hours
on both coasts. IMG provides
24/7 service 365 days per year:
there is always someone available
in case of an outage or emergency.
On top of managing the riser
system itself, IMG Technologies
provides property managers and
tenants with a summary on the
capabilities of the network and
which service providers are available. "Tenants can make choices
more readily," Brogan says of
making that information easily
available. "They can figure out
'who am I going to get my phone
service from' or 'who am I going
to get internet service from?'"
The company is finding more
ways to help clients using the information it generates. Earlier this
year, it launched IMG Connect,
a program that allows tenants
to fill out a form detailing their
technology needs and have IMG
Technologies secure no-obligation
competitive bids on their behalf.
"We help simplify the process for
tenants who need to order new
service," Brogan says.
More businesses will soon be
able to benefit from IMG Technologies' two decades of experience.
The company was focused solely
on the Chicago market until about
10 years ago when it branched out
into San Francisco. Since then, it
has expanded to the East Coast
with services in Washington, D.C.,
Going forward, the company
is looking to expand to the top 20
commercial real estate markets in
the country. "Our goal is to be able
to provide our service nationally,"
Brogan says. "We know we can
handle huge scale, we're just figuring out which market is next."
