company offers its customers an online platform that keeps them
up to date as their new homes are being built.
"There are very few builders here that utilize an online-based
scheduling program," says Jason Wilkinson, who co-owns Prodigy
Homes with his wife, Jasmine Wilkinson. "Buyers can peek in on a
daily basis and see what's going on in their new house."
Prodigy Homes is a semi-custom homebuilder in the Tri-Cities area of Washington state. It builds in Richland, West Richland,
Kennewick and Pasco. Prodigy's online tool does not feature live
"I am the cameraman," Wilkinson says. "If there are any changes
to the billing process, I take a picture of it. If there is a change on
the jobsite, I take a photo of it and load it up on the program. By
the time the job is done, there will be more than 600 photos and
each one is labeled."
The tool also includes a messaging center where customers can
communicate with Prodigy Homes. Though a generic version of
the online platform template is available to other builders, Prodigy
Homes has spent 10 years mastering its art and making improvements to customize the software.
"Yes, anybody can buy this program, but it's a blank slate,"
Wilkinson says. "I put my own recipe into that program. I'm constantly trying to make it better."

Prodigy Homes builds semi-custom homes that range between
$375,000 and $875,000. "Semi-custom is our niche," Wilkinson
says. "You get the custom feel without paying the custom price. Of
course, it depends on the floor plan and how crazy you want to go
with your selection."
The company offers three different custom packages that range
in price from $10,000 to $15,000. The Pearl Package is the most
cost-effective package with more affordable appliances, fixtures,
cabinetry, lighting and flooring.
The next package, the Ruby, is a step above the Pearl with fancier
options for features. Finally, the Diamond package includes extra
