Leading the Way
Even prior to launching Infiniti,
EDCO has been on the forefront of
delivering new technology to the exterior building products industry. It
was the first to use a high-definition
coating technique that gives a two-dimensional roof a three-dimensional
appearance, Lindquist says.
"We were also the first to use an
enhanced paint technique for roofing
panels," he adds. "This gives the panels shadow lines and a variation from
panel to panel so that not every panel
looks the same. This enhanced paint
technique utilizes 40 different spray
nozzles to achieve this unique effect."
Another aspect that differentiates EDCO is vertical integration.
The company coats, coils, rolls, slits,
stamps and distributes its own metal-based products. This decreases transportation expenses and reducing turnaround time, among other
advantages. "That's unique in our
business and it's an advantage because we have the opportunity to control quality throughout the process,"
Lindquist says. "Many of our competitors don't do that."

Most of its ArrowLine roofing
products have been rated as being
energy-efficient by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the
U.S. Department of Energy, which
awarded ArrowLine an Energy Star.
This saves EDCO's customers on
utility bills and helps lower greenhouse gas emissions.
In addition, EDCO tries to reduce
landfill use. In some cases, if a customer is willing, a steel roof can be
installed over an existing asphalt
roof, saving all that toxic asphalt
from the landfill.
In general, one of the biggest features of steel roofing and siding is durability. A steel roof will outlast almost
any roof on the market, saving both
money and helping the environment.
Going with Green
EDCO is committed to protecting the
environment. Its products are made of
recyclable materials and manufactured
utilizing energy efficient methods. The
steel used for roofing and siding is 25 to
30 percent recycled content and aluminum is 90 to 95 percent recycled.

Founded in 1946, EDCO celebrated its
70th anniversary last year. The company got its start after World War II. Noticing a strong demand for affordable
building materials in the wake of the
war, the company founder, Arthur Edwards, had the idea to start manufacturing an innovative insulated siding
with his father.
His product, an early asphalt-based
siding, was one of the first of its kind
and helped pave the way for what
would become a thriving industry.
His siding was an instant success,
setting the bar for EDCO's strong
tradition of being an innovative leader in the industry.
Today, the company continues its
innovation streak with products like
Infiniti Roofing. Over the years, EDCO's product line has expanded to include aluminum soffit and steel fascia,
a variety of metal shingles, aluminum
gutters and downspouts and a comprehensive line of siding accessories.
EDCO has a number of distributors throughout North America
that deliver its products to a large
national customer base in 42 states
and Canada. The company expects to
increase its sales revenue by 5 to 10
percent this year.
Having made a name for itself within its industry, EDCO has been recognized on several occasions for its
innovative product line. In 2015 and
2016, Rural Builder magazine awarded the company a Gold Key award
that recognizes the industry's elite.
In addition, for six consecutive years,
EDCO received a Metal of Honor
award from Metal Roofing magazine,
which also named EDCO on the magazine's "Top 10 Product" list.
The company prides itself on being
at the leading-edge of innovation and
excellence, setting industry trends
and incorporating customer and
professional feedback into its operations. It is an active member of the
Metal Construction Association and
the Metal Roofing Alliance. mt
