Over the course of its 43-year history, customer satisfaction and repeat
customers have become the norm
for Guttenberg Industries, a custom
plastic injection molding company.
Founded in 1974, the Garnavillo, Iowa-based company's sales grew to $19
million in 2016.
"We are strictly custom, so everything we produce essentially goes on
to another manufacturer," President
Dave Kreul says. "Our products tend to
become ingredients for another product down the line. One of the unique
features of our industry is that we
don't have a product line of our own, as
we strictly are a molder for hire."
Kreul notes that there is not a "secret weapon" or "silver bullet" that
makes Guttenberg Industries successful. Instead, it is successful because the company's customers are.
"I think that we are fortunate to have
customers that are doing extremely
well in the marketplace, and most of
them are long-standing repeat customers of ours," he explains. "So, ultimately, as they grow, we are growing
right along with them."
When it comes to its customers,
Guttenberg Industries "strives very
hard" to listen to them in order to provide what they need.
"In the custom plastic injection
molding industry, we have a variety
of customers from many industries,"
Kreul says. "This includes automotive, medical, plumbing, agriculture
and consumer products. We have
