He felt compelled to help the center because it was able to step in and help his family when he needed it. Their advertising work became a catharsis to deal with the pain. Brainwave, Inc. in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children began an awareness project so the public would know the center not only helped missing children, but also those who had been abused. “It was the best way for us to give back,” said Gayter. The couple began an emotional journey as they sat down to craft an ad campaign for the center. “Oftentimes when I’m writing ads, it feels like I’m an actor who takes on a role,” said Gayter. “I try to take in all of the information when I take on the role and then I try to tap into those emotions so I can create a compelling, emotional experience. The story really has to come out because the personality of every brand is just like the personality of every person. They’re all different and they need to be compelling.
