Their sympathy led to a greater level of advertising that allowed the campaign to sing. It led to their strongest campaign. “It was so emotional to create the ad,” said Gayter. “But it’s weird because at the same time, it was so uplifting. It was like, at times, I could feel a bit jaded with my job because I do the same thing day in and day out, but this project really had meaning. In a strange way, this redefined my love for advertising because I was able to create something that really made a difference in people’s lives. It was able to create meaning in my life.” The ad campaign made him realize his own worth “because for once, I could really feel like I made a difference,” said Gayter. The project wasn’t laborious for Gayter and Nicholas; it was a labor of love. The words just flowed. The ideas just came to them. “We knew the topic inside and out because we have lived it and we had so many ideas that it was challenging to know what to pick,” said Gayter. The couple voraciously scribbled on note pads, and scoured for photographs and visuals.
