El Moro Canyon parking area is approximately four miles north of Main Beach on Pacific Coast Highway. Leashed dogs are allowed only on paved areas; no dogs are allowed in backcountry or on beaches. Pacific Marine Mammal Center The only marine mammal rescue and rehabilitation center in Orange County, the nonprofit Pacific Marine Mammal Center specializes in rescue, rehabilitation and release of elephant seals, northern fur seals, harbor seals, California sea lions and cetaceans. Largely operated by volunteers, the full-time veterinarian and medical director, Dr. Richard Evans, also cares for and conducts research on various viruses and bacteria that affect marine mammals.
