COHEN, Chef/Co-Owner, 230 Forest Avenue Culinary artist Marc Cohen is partner and culinary director of four award-winning OC restaurants, including 230 Forest Avenue in Laguna Beach. Chef Cohen attended Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island and was lured to California in 1994 by his current partners to open 230 Forest Avenue, where, according to the Los Angeles Times, “…every dish bears chef and co-owner Marc Cohen’s distinctive stamp, one informed by a particular love of Mexican and Pacific flavors and an artist’s flair.” Among 230’s must-try dishes are Alaskan halibut chowder, hazelnut-crusted halibut with papaya relish and sweet potato yam, smoked bacon-wrapped day boat scallops with pineapple salsa and micro greens, and a dark chocolate croissant bread pudding. Cohen is proud to utilize local and regional ingredients when producing his menus and has been named one of the Best Chefs of Orange County by the Kidney Foundation for seven consecutive years.
