hile the exact details of the 1967 birth
of the Michigan Spirits Association may
be lost to antiquity, the association's ever-growing list of accomplishments has shown no sign
of diminishing over the decades.
And with so many years, so many causes fought
and won, so many presidents and players, it's impossible to profile it all in one issue of Pure Spirits .
The solution? Let one former president in each issue talk about what happened during his/her era, as
the head of MSA.

George Zrinyi, currently of Agave Loco LLC, is a
consensus great place to begin.
Zrinyi was president of MSA from 2004-2010, an
era that marked the advancement of the organization
from a largely social entity to a more legislatively active and official one.
"We began working more with the commissioners
and with legislators", says Zrinyi. "I think we came
into our own as a more official face of the spirits industry. Not to say that previous presidents didn't work
