d'Oro Zinfandel Port-both high-end, high-quality, so you
get a better taste out of it. They're priced accordingly, but
at a bar with those high-quality spirits, you have a chance
to try them.
Are there advantages to drinking at a bar versus at
home?
Are there benefits to using higher-quality spirits
Definitely. The main factor is social. We have only 10 seats
at our bar, so you strike up a conversation with someone,
and the next thing you know someone else chimes in. It's an
excellent place to meet people.
Outside of that, a bartender with experience is probably
going to make a cocktail a little bit better than you could at
home, sort of a "better when Mom makes it" kind of thing.
We've screwed it up enough times, now we're pretty good at it.
You also get a chance to try before you buy it. We have
300-some liquors, and the full kitchen and pastry kitchen, too.
in cocktails?
Absolutely yes. It would be comparable to having a
Louis Vuitton purse vs. a bag from the bargain shelf,
a Porsche vs. an Explorer. A higher-quality spirit
