This past January, we got 11
inches of snow. And it was
absolutely beautiful."
Prior to Smith's time on the mountain, the business was known as Meadow Mountain
Campground. And what was once a swimming
pool is now a wedding garden. "The previous
owner filled it in and started having weddings
here," Smith says. "October is probably the highest
demand time for weddings, because the foliage is
beautiful."
Edward Gibson usually stays in one of these
cabins during October, when leaves are turning
colors - or he shows up in the snow, during January
and February.
"I love the seclusion of it. I love how the cabin
is laid out," says Gibson, a retiree who lives in the
Bon Air suburbs of Richmond, Va.
Gibson, 67, doesn't shy from snowflakes. "This
past January, we got 11 inches of snow," he says.
"And it was absolutely beautiful."
The Gibsons huddled and cuddled in the
warmth of Love.
"They have fireplaces in the cabins. Some of
them are log-burning fireplaces, and some of them
are gas," Gibson says. "I like the log-burning ones
because I like the smell of the fire."
Come Valentine's Day, Smith promises, these
cabins are where you can really love Love.
"We do a lot of romance. We do a lot of honeymoons," Smith says. "Probably half of my business
is a romantic adventure."
