Family looms large in all stories about The Farms
Cabins and Cottages. Bev and Myron bought the
property in the 1990s, having moved from
California three decades earlier to find a better place
for the family they might one day have. They raised
two daughters, one an emergency room physician
practicing in Hendersonville and another, a dentist
who works with her father at his Asheville dentist
office.
The Gottfrieds moved onto the old farm homestead in 1995 and pieced together the rest of the
property by buying tracts from neighboring friends.
Now they entertain many families who return every
year, often renting out the two cabins and three
cottages for reunions, weddings and other celebrations. The buildings sleep up to 26 people, so a
crowd is easy to accommodate. Hundreds of weddings have taken place in the gazebo behind the
large event center.
The two cabins are clad in hickory and wormy
chestnut boards taken from old barns. Nestled into
the trees, they rest on fieldstone foundations.
Flowerboxes introduce a splash of color for arriving
guests. The cabins are as elegant on the inside as
they are rustic on the outside, with just enough
"old" to make the guests' stay on the farm feel
