Unfold in Kentucky
Kentucky is the Horse Capital of the World; produces 95
percent of the world's bourbon; and is the birthplace of
bluegrass music. Kentucky also offers the finest in dining,
arts, entertainment, and history. While all these things
make Kentucky great, it's the thrilling outdoor adventure
opportunities that make a trip complete.
Adventure unfolds with hundreds of hiking trails and sites
for camping, thousands of miles of rivers and ample fishing and boating lakes, rafting and canoeing expeditions,
caves to be explored and vast expanses of national forests.
Kentucky state parks offer great home bases to experience
the outdoors. Forty-nine state parks, including 17 resorts
with lodge accommodations, blanket the Commonwealth.
Whether you are looking for a month long backpacking
adventure or a short Sunday afternoon stroll, trails come
in all shapes and sizes. Historically significant trails such as
the Cumberland Gap and Wilderness Road have evolved
into a recreational trail system that totals over 12,000 miles.
