Lake Country Visitor & Newcomer Guide 2009 - (Page 39) BRUNSWICK STEW AND BBQ IN HOOT OWL HOLLOW ames of places around Lake Gaston may sound both friendly – and funny. Just look on the map for Colonel’s Cove, Little Ponderosa and Hoot Owl Hollow. Or take a cruise near Cooley’s Crossroads, Carolina Pines, Summerwood, Salmons Point, Elams and Morristown. Wherever you float your boat you’ll find close-knit communities. These are places where everybody waves. And shares bottles of suntan lotion. For sure, you’ll make a friend while fishing. “The good thing about Lake Gaston is the people,” says Becky Ross, who operates two locations of Lake Gaston Water Sports – one in North Carolina and the other in Virginia. “The people are just so nice out here.” Such a share-all spirit is especially embraced at Bracey, a sprawling community encompassing a string of lakeside developments. Here, neighbors gather together, brewing big pots of Brunswick Stew during the Super Bowl, and then bask in barbecues on the water on the Fourth of July. “People have brought neat communities down to the lake,” says Frank Malone, the executive director of the South Hill Chamber of Commerce. “They come down to the lake. They tie boats together and walk from pontoon to pontoon. Then, they just stay there ’til the sun comes up.” N 2457 Eaton Ferry Road, Littleton, NC 27850 – Next to Food Lion 39 LAKE Cell: 252-326-4194 crystaldickens@gmail.com Visit: BeautifulLakeGaston.com Call for a FREE Lake Gaston Info Package Beth Hall, CSP Buying, Selling, Just Looking Call me – I can help! Often, says realtor Tommy Zincone, the Beaver Creek units attract young seniors, age 55 to 60, who opt to leave a big city, or a big lakefront home. “They’re moving into town to be closer to hospitals or stores.” Older houses also provide options, Pratali says. “And you can still get those in good condition. It just depends on what you’re looking for and where you want it to be.” < View my listings at: n.com LakeGasto Cell: 252-425-4380 Randall E.
