Lake Country Visitor & Newcomer Guide 2009 - (Page 53) In the course of a $2 million restoration and renovation, plans call for the Colonial to serve as South Hill’s welcome center plus showcase ballets, pageants, local performers – even professional plays. It also has a new name: The Colonial Center. “What it took was someone with the leadership and the vision to take it and run with it,” says Kim Callis, South Hill’s town manager. “It took the mayor’s leadership.” Near the Colonial Theatre stands the town’s Centennial Park, a point of gathering for various festivals and events. Like the Colonial, the park symbolizes the cozy, comforting feel of the Lake Country – the idea that, if you band together, anything can be done. From taking a leisurely stroll down the streets of Clarksville and launching a boat on Buggs Island Lake/John H.
