scene. Ranging from farmto-table fare to international
cuisine, the food culture in the
valley is one of the many reasons
people love Roanoke. These

EVELYN LIU UNDERSTANDS THAT,
next to the food, the atmosphere
is the most important part about
a restaurant. When she decided
to open her own place, she took
the time to make Taste of Asia a
happy, friendly, energizing space
"People don't come to a
restaurant just to eat," says Liu.
"I want everyone that comes here
to feel happy and free to talk and
laugh. I cannot make my restaurant
quiet; that's just not me."
Originally from Indonesia, Liu
has traveled all over the country,
but she is happy to call Roanoke
home. "The people are so friendly.
