In Vinton, The Advancement Foundation
run by Annette Patterson has created another business incubator called The Hive, more
focused on those at the lower end of the
economic ladder. The foundation also has
its own Shark Tank-like event, The Gauntlet, which was fortified this past year with
state grants. The winning entry, Twin Creeks
(micro) Brewery, received $17,000 in money
and services-with the stipulation that it had
to open a storefront in the Town of Vinton.
