Some of that "shift" comes in an increasing Roanoke population, though it is not major. "I don't
see a decrease in demand anywhere in the Roanoke
Valley," says Garland. "Apartments are being built
all over and the single-family housing units are filling up." Several realtors have called it a "buyer's
market" in single-family housing, especially in the
preferred neighborhoods, despite the brisk sales.
