Q: Tell us about your business.
A: At High Hopes Dog Training, we offer many training
programs to meet the needs of our clients. Our priority is
to give them the tools they need to form trusting, working
relationships with their dogs, emphasizing teaching the
dogs what we want them to do instead of simply correcting
behaviors we do not like. A special part of High Hopes Dog
Training is our project, High Hopes Helps, in which we invite
shelter and foster dogs to attend our group classes. This
helps the dogs become more adoptable as they learn good
manners.
Q: Please share a brief history of your company.
A: High Hopes was established in 2000 when I lived in South
Florida. When my family and I moved to Roanoke in 2009,
I trusted that Roanokers had dogs to train and aspired to
reestablish High Hopes in my new hometown. Now nine years,
three fabulous employees (Sandy Evans, Candice King, and
Allison Wolf), hundreds of clients and SIX PLATINUM AWARDS
later, High Hopes is the Roanoke Valley's most popular dog
training company!
Q: What specific products or services do you offer?
A: High Hopes offers group classes from Puppy Kindergarten
through Therapy Dog training. We also conduct private,
in-home lessons in which we develop training programs to
meet our clients' goals as well as the personalities of their
dogs. We have a new program called FETCH-Fun, Effective
Training in the Community and at Home. We train your dog
for you! It is our belief that keeping the dog at home during
this program allows the dog to be more relaxed and focused
since the environment is familiar. This helps the dog absorb
new information without the stress of separation. High Hopes
also sells toys, treats, and chews that dogs love and training
aids that their parents appreciate!
Q: What does it mean to be recognized as a "Best of 2018" award
winner?
A: Another year of winning Platinum is extremely exciting! I
am very proud that so many people find their experiences
with High Hopes to be positive and effective and take the
time to recognize us as their favorite dog training company in
the Roanoke Valley. Thank you!
Q: What is unique about your business that sets you apart?
A: High Hopes is unique because we are sensitive to the
fact that both people and dogs are learning new skills
and succeed when taught with patience and positive
reinforcement. We motivate our clients and their dogs by
engaging them in a fun, challenging manner and we promise
that both will enjoy the process as they benefit from their
newly-formed partnership.
