Q. What is unique about your practice that sets you apart?
A: 50-60 percent of our visits each week are children 12 and under. You
aren't going to find many chiropractic offices in our area, let alone the
world, that have that high of a pediatric population being cared for in
their office. How we're able to see such a high pediatric population has to
do with the specific approach we utilize at Cotton Chiropractic. Contrary
to the focus of many other chiropractic offices, Cotton Chiropractic does
not focus on spinal alignment, muscle issues or pain complaints. Our
attention lies within caring for the nervous system and optimizing its
functional capacity for greater health and healing activity within the body.
Q. What is the best part of your career?
A: Hearing the stories from parents about how much their child's life
has changed. It could be a mom sharing how her son who used to be
non-verbal said, "I love you mommy" for the first time, or watching a
child begin to walk through the office at age 3 when their parents were
told they would never walk. Witnessing "miracles" on a daily basis
never gets old!
Q. What does it mean to you to be recognized as a Health Hero?
A: It's an honor to be recognized as a Health Hero; but the truth is
it's not me who is the Hero. It's all the parents and kiddos who took a
leap of faith to change their lives by stepping foot in our office. Their
diligence in pursuing a greater life and trusting our process has made
all the difference for them. We are solely honored to be along for the
journey with them.

Q: Briefly describe your background or qualifications.
A: I grew up watching my father create beautiful smiles as an orthodontist in
Martinsville, which inspired me to pursue the same profession. I graduated
from VCU School of Dentistry in 2010 and then spent an additional two years
in the VCU Department of Orthodontics, the top ranked residency program in
the country. After graduation, I was invited to join one of my faculty members
in Richmond. In 2014, my family and I wanted to move back to the Blue Ridge
mountains where we were fortunate to take over Dr. McCorkle's practice as
he prepared for retirement. I have treated over 1,500 patients with Invisalign
and over 3,000 patients with traditional braces.
Q: What is unique about your practice that sets you apart?
A: Roanoke Valley Orthodontics provides orthodontic treatment to children,
teenagers and adults using both traditional and clear ceramic braces and
Invisalign aligners. We utilize the most current technology, including a digital
iTero scanner that allows us to treat you without impressions and a 3D printer
to print models in office. We are also the only Platinum providers of Invisalign
in the Valley! Most importantly, our team comes to the office every day ready
to provide an exceptional experience as we give you and your family the
smiles and oral health that you have always dreamed of! In our office, you
can expect a fun, lively atmosphere with the best customer service in town.
Q: What does it mean to be recognized as a Health Hero?
A: I am honored to know that my education and expertise has significantly
impacted someone's quality of life and overall health. To me, a Health Hero goes
above and beyond to improve the lives of the people in their community. I am
fortunate to be able to use orthodontics to change lives one smile at a time!
