Community Benefit Fall Report 2007 - (Page 16) Lancaster General state-funded grant program called “Women: Take Action Against Cervical Cancer.” During the six-month program for low-income and uninsured women, six Lancaster County sites performed 171 free Pap tests for cervical cancer. Free treatment was provided to 15 percent of the women who had abnormal test results. We also launched a new initiative to educate employees and their families about colon cancer. We mailed letters to more than 1,730 employees age 50 and older, encouraging them to schedule a screening. When employees turn 50, they receive a special Happy Birthday greeting that includes information about the importance of preventative screening.
