Because a healthy community extends beyond healthcare, we support local governments, school districts and community improvement initiatives in addition to helping those who are medically underserved. Just another way that Lancaster General remains by your side. Caring for All in the Community Lancaster General provides care to anyone, regardless of their financial means. The following summary describes the cost of providing healthcare services to people with little or no ability to pay: $37.04 million – Unpaid cost of state programs to the financially disadvantaged and services to other financially disadvantaged persons I $5.14 million – Unpaid cost to train promising physicians, nurses, technicians and other healthcare professionals who care for future generations of county residents $3.26 million – Cost of medical care for patients with little or no health insurance $187,000 – Cost of providing medical care for homeless patients, inmates at Lancaster County Prison and victims of crime Lancaster General provides assistance and services to public and private partners throughout Lancaster County. Last year, this assistance totaled nearly $50 million.* * Financial figures based on Lancaster General’s fiscal year, which started July 1, 2006, and ended June 30, 2007.
