Louisiana TIMED Program Annual Report 2007-2008 - (Page 28) TIMED Education Programs Throughout FY 2007/2008, the TIMED Program Management Team developed and implemented a strategic educational outreach program to show students the important role transportation plays in their lives and the opportunities the industry offers young professionals. TIMED to Learn targets 3rd-grade students and is designed to introduce children to transportation concepts and the TIMED project in their community. TIMED 2 Explore Engineering targets 7th-grade students and is designed to teach them about the TIMED project in their community, while presenting engineering and construction fields as possible career paths. Classroom visits are organized through each individual school throughout the year. Each classroom visit includes hands-on activities, fun games and special goodie bags. Teachers are also provided with additional materials to enhance their curriculum. In addition to the program, students and their parents are encouraged to visit the TIMED to Learn Web site (www.timedtolearn.com) to access more games and educational activities. The TIMED to Learn Web site includes several transportationthemed games and activities that incorporate math, science and critical thinking skills. Also, the TIMED 2 Explore Engineering Web site (www.timedla.com/explore) features informative brochures, engineering facts and profiles of engineers.
