The publication targets family entertainment center (FEC) operators, a growing segment of the industry, and debuts in the March BCM. The publication will have external circulation. Frank Seninsky, long-time amusement industry leader, is Editorial Consultant on the project. Contact NateH@ LubyPublishing.com to receive a copy of the first issue. SARATOGA IS ADDED On Jan. 29, the Saratoga Lanes building in St. Louis was named to the National Register of Historic Places. The center is an upstairs, eight-lane bowling alley that’s been there since 1916. It is well-maintained, and has been described as almost a time machine from the 1950s. The item appeared in the Route 66 News, not a surprise considering it is barely a block south of the famed highway. lane Cosmic Bowl is scheduled to open. The investors, Vicksburg Entertainment Group LLC, hope to see the venue blossom into a regional entertainment draw, as plans allow. "There's nothing to do in this city," said developer Henry Patel, also a local hotelier. "People are going to come from Tallulah, Port Gibson, Rolling Fork — all these cities around us — to come and bowl." He is hoping to attract league bowlers, of course. Customers will visit Cosmic Bowl for other reasons as well, because it will have additional attractions including a bar, and likely will be operated as a non-smoking venue. Further additions may be dictated by what develops in two vacant tracts around the site, situated near other retail and food outlets established in the past five years. INDIA RECREATES PVR, a multiplex cinema exhibition company, has entered into a joint venture agreement with the Major Cineplex Group of Thailand to form the JV company, and bring bowling and other lifestyle entertainment concepts to India. The JV would set up bowling and karaoke centers, ice skating rinks and gaming zones in and around PVR's multiplexes to provide a complete out-of-home experience to consumers. The venture plans to set up 150 to 200 bowling lanes in the next three years in key cities across India, catering to the evolving tastes of today's Indian consumers. There has been a significant increase in consumption expenditure due to rising disposable incomes as a result of sustained growth at all income levels in the country. RAASCH CELEBRATES Steve Raasch, owner of Great Lakes Bowling, has been named the 2007 Distributor of the Year by US Steltronic. The annual award goes to the outstanding distributor of US Steltronic equipment, and also recognizes the service behind the product. The award was presented by Gregg Pasdiora, Vice President of US Steltronic, on January 31 at the company’s North American Sales and Installation meeting in Chino, Calif. in December 2006. That should partly be remedied by August when the 20- BLUEFUSION HAS IT ALL A bluefusion entertainment facility is set to open in April in Marion, Ohio, as a new bowling and entertainment destination. The 40,000-sq.-ft. facility will offer 22 tournament-quality AMF lanes, with Qubica scoring, as well as four additional HWY 66 "mini BOWLING IS BACK Vicksburg, Ga.'s entertainment scene was left in tatters for the last 18 months with the closing of Red Carpet Lanes in May and the shuttering of the Pemberton Mall cinema 86 bowlers journal international Steve Raasch, 2nd from left, received Steltronic's top distributor award from Gregg Pasdiora (ctr.) and Roberto Simeone.
