Bowlers Journal International - November 2008 - (Page 104) 95 LIFE IS SHORT. Live every day as if it were your last. That was the thinking behind the title of the 1999 book, 100 Things to Do Before You Die, co-written by Dave Freeman and Neil Teplica. Since then, the “100 things ” approach has been applied to countless books. No good idea goes unstolen. It is with that thought in mind that Bowlers Journal International, on the occasion of the magazine’s 95th anniversary, rips off uh, borrows the concept of Messrs. Freeman and Teplica, and BOWLING YOU MUST VISIT BEFORE YOU DIE brings you this completely arbitrary list of bowling centers that, for a wide array of reasons, are worth a visit. We wanted to include old centers and new, domestic centers and international, ma-and-pa operations and multi-million-dollar bowling palaces. There was a time when, if someone said, “Let’s go bowling,” everyone knew exactly what it meant. Today, such a suggestion could be interpreted in any number of ways. We wanted this list to bring that reality to light. To compile the list, we asked readers and those involved in the business for suggestions. We also tapped the personal travel logs of BJI editors and contributors. That said, we know there are hundreds of centers that aren’t included on this list, but could be. So, if your favorite center is missing, drop us a note. Let us know why your fellow bowlers should stop in should they ever find themselves in the neighborhood. In future issues, we’ll share some of your ideas. Meanwhile, for further information on the 95 centers CENTERS featured in this issue, log on to bowlersjournal.com and go to the “Striking News” section. Archived there, you’ll find contact information to help you plan a visit to one of the centers, or a vacation involving several stops. And if you do go out of your way to visit one or more of these centers, we’d like to hear about that, too. You’ll find our contact information on page 10. Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy this armchair tour of 95 bowling centers you must visit before you die.
