Yet when “Bowling’s Clash of Champions” returns in 2009, it will be taped across the street from the stadium, at the Reno Events Center. Four lanes will be constructed inside the center, which also will host the 2009 USBC Convention. Taping of the made-for-TV event is scheduled for April 30, one day after the championship round of the USBC Queens is conducted on the same lanes. The stadium will host preliminary rounds of the Queens. In the Clash, eight men and eight women — mostly USBC tournament champions — will compete for a $50,000 first prize. HONOR FOR EARNEST Junior Team USA member Josie Earnest of Vandalia, Ill., has been named Kegel Bowler of the Month by the Bowling Writers Association of America. Earnest won four gold medals and a silver while representing the U.S. at the Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships, held in El Salvador.
