Bowlers Journal International - November 2008 - (Page 30) Inside Line News, Notes And Perspective ALL-TIME ALL-AMERICANS THE WOMEN’S CAPTAIN Wendy Macpherson MEN’S CAPTAIN Walter Ray Williams Jr. garners the honor of being the most elite of the First Teamers among the women as an 11-time All-American, one more than Leanne Barrette-Hulsenberg has earned in her star-studded career. In a touch of irony, both Williams and Macpherson share at least one other significant BJI honor; namely, being selected as Bowlers of the Decade. They earned the honor for their exploits in the ’90s. That makes them the reigning players enjoying that particular designation. [Based solely on the number of times he has distinguished himself as an All-American in the new millennium, WRW is making a fairly serious run at becoming the first player ever to repeat claiming the Bowler of the Decade honor. So, how do we celebrate W 30 this amazing amalgam of monumental moments? Why, we name BJI’s All-Time All-American Teams, of course. The big question: just how the heck do we do that? On that basis, Walter Ray Williams Jr., Ocala, Fla., and Wendy Macpherson, Henderson, Nev., are the captains of our All-Time All-American squads, 70th anniversary edition. Williams merits the honor based on his 16 First Team appearances, an astounding quartet more than the dozen times Earl Anthony distinguished himself with the honor.
