The unbeatable weather of fall and winter in Arizona's southern deserts provides for endless outdoor exploration. Leaf peeping in this region isn't
unheard of, but it's a quick peek. Hang out along
riparian areas such as Sabino Canyon or high
in the Santa Catalina or Pinaleño mountains to
catch autumn color.
There's something extra spooky about trying to find ghosts during Halloween season.
Mining ghost towns like Ruby near Arivaca and
Fairbank in Sierra Vista are easily accessible.
Bisbee, a mining town-turned-art colony, has
several tours that seek out its ghostly residents.
Its charming Copper Queen Hotel, as well as
the nearly 100-year-old Hotel Congress in Tucson and the stately Gadsden Hotel in Douglas,
are said to have permanent specters. Plenty of
