The Kaibab, Coconino and ApacheSitgreaves national forests of ponderosa
pine offer hiking, camping, fishing, offroading, hunting, water sports and horseback riding most of the year. The Navajo
and White Mountain Apache open their
lands for some of the finest fishing and
hunting in the state.
The Havasupai Indian Reservation west
of Grand Canyon Village provides trail access and guides to the deep-blue Havasu
Creek and its several falls within the canyon walls. Stillwater rafting on the Colorado River launches from Page in spring,
summer and fall. Water sports like motorized and non-motorized boating, fishing,
houseboating and waterskiing are available all year at the Glen Canyon National
Recreation Area.

Get a taste of Northern Arizona's centuries-old history
and breathtaking high-country scenery along the 270mile Trail of Many Tracks.
The stories of Mormon settlers, ranchers, miners,
American Indians and military campaigns are told at
stops along Interstate 40, US Highway 191 and Arizona
Highways 260, 77 and 73. The loop through the White
Mountains passes through the towns of Holbrook,
Snowflake-Taylor, Show Low, Pinetop-Lakeside, Fort
Apache, McNary, Eagar, Springerville, St. Johns and
Sanders. The Little Colorado River and portions of the
Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests run through the area,
which is full of lakes and historic buildings.

detailing the area's history and some of the memorable
stops along the route. They're available online at
