The nine wineries that make up the Shawnee Hills Wine Trail make the most of their beautiful setting, offering decks and patios where you can drink in the scenery while sampling wines. The terrain is also a draw for golfers, who putt their way along the five challenging courses on the Southern Illinois Golf Trail. Outdoor adventurers are in their element here, whether hiking the Garden of the Gods, biking the Tunnel Hill State Trail, canoeing the Cache River Wetlands, boating on Rend Lake, scuba diving at Mermet Springs or horseback riding in Giant City State Park.
