There are 38 miles of hiking trails through tallgrass prairies and glades as well as woodlands. Horseback riding is permitted on 19 miles of the trail system, and a designated campground is open to equestrians. Babler Memorial State Park More than 2,400 acres of Missouri River hills only 20 miles from St. Louis, with a nicely varied set of activities and services: trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding, campgrounds, picnic sites, a visitor center with nature exhibits and a barrier-free resident camp. Graham Cave State Park The park surrounds Graham Cave, whose high entry and wide expanse served as shelter and ceremonial site for American Indians as long as 10,000 years ago. A visitor center interprets the cave’s natural and cultural history. The park’s diverse landforms are laced with hiking and biking trails and feature camping, picnic and playground areas.
