MOREY MILBRADT GRAND CANYON Get There by Air The quickest and most dramatic way to get to the Grand Canyon from Phoenix is by air. The flight takes about an hour, and most travelers opt for a 30-minute aerial tour above the canyon. Ride the Rails Grand Canyon Railway provides a scenic and historic route to Arizona’s most famous landmark.Trains depart daily from the Northern Arizona town of Williams and chug due north through forest and desert. The trip takes 2 hours and 15 minutes each way. Road Trip The most popular route to the Grand Canyon is by car. From Phoenix, the drive takes 31⁄2–5 hours, depending on how many scenic stops you make along the way. ALAN JUSTICE HOW TO GET THERE The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is located about 2 hours south of Phoenix. Take I-10 to Tucson and exit at Prince Road.
