LOUISANS: ALL-STAR EDITION In recognition of 2009 being an All-Star year in St. Louis, here’s a lineup of favorite Gateway City mascots, many known around the world. THE ENERGIZER BUNNY® The pink hare, a product of St. Louis’ corporate league, is the ultimate power player. EB An awesome utility player, Bunny is always ready to play. Back-toback doubleheaders? No problem. He keeps going and going…® Catch the Energizer Bunny® Hot Hare Balloon leading a hare-and-hounds race at St. Louis’ annual Great Forest Park Balloon Race. Hobby: Plays the drums. FREDBIRD This Red Bird grew up in the Cardinals organization and is the team cheerleader on and FREDBIRD off the bench. When he’s not flying around the base path, the 6foot, 3-inch Beak Leaguer can be found shaking his tail feathers on top of Busch Stadium’s dugouts, greeting fans and chirping for the Cardinals. His favorite Busch Stadium souvenir: his look-alike plush Fredbird from the stadium’s BuildA-Bear Workshop. PATRIOT This plucky player from the World Bird Sanctuary is one bald eagle proud to participate in perPATRIOT forming the national anthem before any event. She has often soared around Busch Stadium while the symbolic song played, adding majesty to the tradition. Favorite ballpark snack: Prefers peanuts to Cracker Jacks. KRISTI FOSTER RAJA This St. Louis Bonus Baby was the first Asian elephant born at the Saint Louis Zoo. Now, the RAJA 15-year-old has started his own expansion team within the Zoo’s River’s Edge habitat that includes his baby daughters Maliha and Jade. Raja never forgets his fans. His favorite ballpark snack: Jumbo hot dogs. FINN This rookie from the Missouri Botanical Garden may be green, but he knows how to leap to grab FINN a high fly and to put the wood on the ball. His skills blossomed during the past three seasons at A Missouri Adventure Children’s Garden within MBG. Doesn’t mind rain delays. T-REX He may be the oldest player from the Saint Louis Science Center, but this veteran can still terT-REX rorize righties and lefties. There must be something in his DNA that makes him roar. Only Cardinals great Bob Gibson was more intimidating! Unusual interest: Collects fossils. BUD T h i s h a n d s o m e Clydesdale is a Busch Stadium favorite. Part of the world-famous Budweiser BUD Clydesdales eight-horse hitch, the crowd goes wild when he trots onto the field or is seen on the giant replay screen during the 7th inning stretch. Off-season, Bud can be seen relaxing at the stable on the AnheuserBusch Brewery Tour.
